Great Lakes Chapter

The Great Lakes Chapter of ETE was formed in 1998 by Kurt Miska after scouring the roster of the now defunkt Märklin Mailing List and the Märklin Enthusiasts of America directory.  Our first meeting in December of 1998 included 12 people, many of whom are members to this day.  We now boast over 40 members, many of whom are active in the modular layout special interest group (SIG).Two to three times a year, the Great Lakes Chapter publishes their own newsletter, independent of the national newsletter, 'EXPRESS'.  It's called 'Gleis 1', or 'Track 1', and contains articles and information written by our local chapter members as well as some 'guest authors' abroad.  With reviews of chapter events past and information on chapter events yet to come, it's an excellent way for our memebrs to stay up-to-date on the goings-on of the chapter.  Articles range from historic pieces about European railways to practical advice on model railroading.  The newsletter generally runs 6-8 pages in length and is published as material allows.
